Plating Rectifier Services

Service That Keeps Your Plating Line Running

A rectifier is only as good as the production it delivers. ION Rectifiers backs every plating and anodizing power supply with hands-on pulse plating optimization, factory repair, custom engineering, and operator training. Built in Plano, Texas. Supporting plating and anodizing shops nationwide.

Why service matters

A Rectifier Sale Should Not Be the End of the Conversation

Plating and anodizing shops do not buy rectifiers because they want hardware. They buy rectifiers because they need consistent deposits, predictable cycle times, and equipment that does not become the constraint on the line. That outcome takes more than a power supply showing up on a pallet. It takes a partner who can tune pulse parameters to your chemistry, repair the unit when it faults, engineer a custom solution when the catalog does not fit, and train the operators who run the equipment every shift. That is what ION Service is built to do.

What we offer

Four Services Built Around Your Production

Whether you are commissioning a new ION rectifier, modernizing an existing line, or troubleshooting an older system, our service team is the same group of engineers and technicians who design and build the equipment.

Pulse Plating Optimization

Dial in Pulse Waveforms to Your Chemistry, Geometry, and Deposit Target

Buying a high-speed pulse rectifier is only half the upgrade. The bigger gains come from tuning the waveform to your bath chemistry, part geometry, and deposit target. ION engineers work directly with your process team to set forward and reverse pulse parameters, frequency, T-on and T-off ranges, and recipe management on the unit's HMI so operators can repeat results across shifts.

  • Waveform tuning for forward pulse, reverse pulse, dual pulse, and pulse train modes
  • Parameter development for frequency up to 10kHz and T-on/T-off ranges from 5µs to 654,800µs
  • Recipe creation on the 7-inch HMI so floor operators run repeatable cycles, not improvisation
  • Process documentation your QA team and CPA can audit later
  • Ongoing optimization support when bath chemistry, part mix, or specifications change

Factory Repair

Factory Repair on ION DC and Pulse Rectifiers by the Engineers Who Built Them

Production does not wait. When an ION rectifier faults or fails a diagnostic check, you need a service team that can read the fault log, replace the right module, and get the unit back to spec without guesswork. ION repair is performed by the same engineers and technicians who designed and built your equipment in Plano, Texas. We service ION DC and pulse rectifiers only. If you need calibration documentation for an audit, we can refer you to an independent third-party calibration lab and coordinate the work.

  • Field repair and depot repair on ION DC and pulse rectifiers
  • Modular power section replacement on ION units, often without removing the cabinet from service
  • Fault log review using the unit's diagnostic screens and voltage logging history
  • Third-party calibration coordination when your audit program requires independent test and documentation
  • Spare parts and modular components stocked in Plano for fast turnaround on common replacements

Custom Engineering

Engineered-to-Spec Rectifier Solutions When the Catalog Does Not Fit

Not every plating or anodizing application fits a standard 300A to 5000A catalog unit. ION's engineering team designs custom rectifier solutions for unusual current and voltage requirements, multi-tank fleet control, integration with PLC and SCADA environments, and special enclosures for harsh shop conditions. Because we manufacture in Plano, Texas, the engineers who quote your project are the same engineers who build, test, and support it.

  • Custom current and voltage configurations beyond standard catalog ranges
  • Series and parallel combinations for high-current applications and redundancy
  • PLC, SCADA, and PC-based fleet control for up to 250 networked units
  • Custom enclosures and ingress protection beyond standard IP65, NEMA 4, 4X, 12, and 13
  • Built in Plano, Texas with engineering, manufacturing, and service under one roof

Operator & Maintenance Training

Training That Turns the HMI Into an Asset, Not a Question Mark

The control system is where production consistency lives or dies. ION offers structured training for plating and anodizing operators, line supervisors, and maintenance technicians so the people running your equipment understand the controls, recipes, diagnostics, and pulse parameters. Sessions can be delivered on-site at your facility, at ION in Plano, or remotely for refresher content.

  • Operator training on the 7-inch HMI, recipe management, Amp-minute counters, and shift handoffs
  • Pulse parameter training for process engineers and quality teams
  • Maintenance training on diagnostic screens, fault isolation, breaker protection, and module replacement
  • On-site, factory, and remote sessions with documented curricula and reference materials
  • Refresher training when operators turn over or when you add new chemistry or part programs

How service engagements work

A Predictable Service Process, Built for Production Reality

Most service calls start with the same question: "How fast can you get us back to running?" ION runs every engagement through a four-step process so you know exactly what happens, who owns each step, and when to expect results.

Step 01

Diagnose

Review fault logs, voltage history, and operator notes to identify the root cause before parts move.

Step 02

Quote

Scope the service, parts, calibration, and training needed with a written quote and target turnaround.

Step 03

Execute

Repair, tune, or train on-site at your facility, at ION in Plano, or remotely when feasible.

Step 04

Document

Deliver recipe files, training records, and a service report for your QA file. Third-party calibration certificates available on request.

Scope of services

What ION Does Not Do

ION does not handle electrical installation, tank construction, busbar fabrication, or facility wiring. Those scopes belong to your electrical contractor and tank builder. ION also does not repair rectifiers from other manufacturers, and we do not currently offer in-house NIST-traceable calibrations or preventive maintenance contracts. When an audit program requires independent calibration, we can refer you to a qualified third-party lab and coordinate the work. Once your installation is complete, ION takes over for commissioning, pulse optimization, repair on ION units, custom engineering, and training. If you are not sure where the line is, our team can review your scope before quoting so there are no surprises.

FAQs

FAQs About ION Rectifier Services

Common questions plating and anodizing shops ask before opening a service engagement with ION.

No. ION repair service covers ION DC and pulse rectifiers only. Because our technicians service the equipment they helped design and build in Plano, Texas, we can turn repairs around quickly and stand behind the work. For other brands, we recommend contacting the original manufacturer or a qualified third-party service house.

It depends on the chemistry, the part geometry, and the deposit target. A focused optimization engagement typically runs from a day to a week of on-site or remote work, plus follow-up support as the line ramps. We document every recipe so your team can repeat the results across shifts without re-engineering the process.

Not in-house. ION does not currently perform NIST-traceable calibrations on its own. When an audit program such as ISO, Nadcap, AS9100, or a customer-specific requirement calls for independent calibration and documentation, we can refer you to a qualified third-party calibration lab and help coordinate the test so the certificate matches your audit needs.

On-site at your facility, at ION in Plano, Texas, or remotely. On-site training is best for operators and line supervisors who need to work the actual HMI. Factory training in Plano is useful for maintenance technicians who want hands-on time with the hardware. Remote sessions work well for refresher training and recipe reviews.

Not yet. ION does not currently offer formal preventive maintenance contracts. Many shops still schedule periodic check-ins for fault log review, recipe verification, and training refreshers on a project basis. If a PM program is something you need, let us know what scope and cadence you are looking for so we can design the right engagement.

Often, yes. Because ION designs, manufactures, and services in Plano, Texas, custom current and voltage configurations, multi-tank fleet control, special enclosures, and PLC and SCADA integrations are part of normal engineering work. Share your application and we will tell you quickly whether the request fits within our build envelope.
